The 44 are the plans anyone with Part A and Part B who lives in Broward can join. 36 of them include Part D drug coverage and 8 do not. Special Needs Plans are counted separately because each one is limited to people who meet its rules: having Medicare and Medicaid, having a specific chronic condition, or living in an institution such as a nursing home. Stand-alone Part D plans are not in either number.

| With Part D drug coverage | 40 | 36 | −4 |
| With a $0 monthly premium | 43 | 38 | −5 |
| Special Needs Plans, counted separately | 69 | 62 | −7 |
Where the number comes from
CMS publishes a landscape file each fall listing every Medicare Advantage and Part D plan offered in each county for the coming year, with its premium, out-of-pocket maximum and drug deductible. These figures count the Broward rows in the 2027 file, leaving out Special Needs Plans and stand-alone drug plans, and they match our Broward County page exactly. CMS can update the file during the year, so a plan added or withdrawn later would change the count.
Why there are fewer plans
Broward has 6 fewer plans than in 2026, and the drop is in HMOs, down from 30 to 23. A net change of 6 can hide more movement than that, and the landscape file alone does not say which 2026 plans ended and which were merged into another plan. If your plan is not being renewed, you should have had a letter by the end of September, and you have a Special Enrollment Period from December 8 to the last day of February.
What to do next
Forty-four plans is too many to compare by premium, and the premium is the least telling number on a plan. Narrow the list by the three things that decide your cost and access: whether your doctors are in the network, what your prescriptions cost on each plan’s 2027 formulary, and the in-network out-of-pocket maximum, which runs from $750 to $9,850 across Broward plans for 2027. Annual Enrollment closes December 7, 2026.

Related questions
Does the count include Special Needs Plans?
No. The 44 are plans open to anyone with Medicare in Broward. The 62 Special Needs Plans are counted separately because each is limited to people who meet its eligibility rules.
Are the same plans offered in Miami-Dade and Palm Beach?
Not exactly. Plans are offered county by county, so each county has its own list and its own count, even where the same company operates in all three.
How many stand-alone Part D plans are there?
Stand-alone drug plans are offered across Florida rather than county by county: 11 for 2027, none of them with a $0 premium.
