This count comes from the plan year 2027 landscape file that CMS publishes for the federal Marketplace, which HealthCare.gov uses in Florida. It covers individual-market medical plans only. Dental plans and small-business plans are published separately, and the count does not tell you which plans your doctors accept or what a plan costs after the premium tax credit. Broward County is a single rating area, Rating Area 6, so every plan below is offered across the whole county. Open enrollment for 2027 coverage runs November 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027.

What the metal levels look like

Of the 173 plans, 61 are Silver, 53 are labeled Expanded Bronze in the CMS file, 41 are Gold, 11 are Platinum, 5 are Bronze and 2 are Catastrophic. Silver matters most for lower incomes, because cost-sharing reductions that lower deductibles and copays come only with Silver plans. Most plans are HMOs: 129 HMO, 19 EPO, 14 PPO and 11 POS plans. An HMO generally covers care only inside its own network, so check the network before you compare price.

Why one insurer appears twice

Florida Blue sells through two issuer entries in the CMS file, one labeled Florida Blue HMO with 38 plans and one labeled Florida Blue with 33. Together that is 71 of the 173 plans, about 41%. Counting companies rather than filings, eight companies sell plans here. The file lists each premium by age before any subsidy, so the price you pay can be much lower once the credit is applied.

What to do next

Pick the metal level first, then compare two or three insurers on the doctors and drugs you use, with the network and drug formulary links on each plan’s HealthCare.gov page. Open enrollment runs to January 15, 2027, and the plan list can still change before you enroll, so check it live. We compare plans and enroll you on HealthCare.gov ourselves, in English, Spanish, French or Haitian Creole.

Related questions

Does every insurer listed sell plans across Broward?

Every plan in the CMS file is offered county-wide in Broward, which is one rating area. Which plans you can use still depends on your own eligibility.

Does this count include dental plans?

No. This is medical plans in the individual market only. Dental plans are published in a separate CMS file.

Where do I see what a plan will cost me?

On HealthCare.gov after you enter your household and income. The CMS file shows each plan’s full premium by age before any subsidy, so it does not show what you will pay.
