What $0 actually means

A $0 premium is the plan’s own monthly charge, Part C and Part D together. It sits on top of the Part B premium, which you keep paying in every Medicare Advantage plan. It says nothing about what you pay when you use care: copays, coinsurance, the drug deductible and the out-of-pocket maximum all differ between $0 plans. Among Broward’s $0 plans the in-network maximum runs from $750 to $9,250 for 2027, so two plans with the same $0 premium can leave you facing very different worst-case bills.

Why some plans charge more

All 6 plans with a premium are PPOs, 4 of them regional PPOs, which let you use providers outside the network at a higher share of the cost. Every HMO and HMO-POS plan in Broward has a $0 premium for 2027. A premium can buy a wider network; whether that is worth it depends on how often you see doctors, and whether the ones you see are in an HMO network.

What to do next

Start from your doctors and your prescriptions, not the premium. Check each $0 plan’s network and its 2027 formulary, then compare the out-of-pocket maximum and the drug deductible, which is $700 on 13 of the 38 $0 plans. A $0 plan that covers your drugs poorly can cost more over a year than a plan with a premium. Annual Enrollment for 2027 coverage ends December 7, 2026.
